Bold Leadership Puts Drone Program on the Map!

Bold Leadership Puts Drone Program on the Map!

For the last two years, The Dee Howard Foundation has had the privilege of learning and growing under one of the most successful Aerospace Leaders in San Antonio, Bianca Rhodes, CEO and President of Knight Aerospace

And it’s no surprise that in the last two years, DHF has tripled its budget and over the previous 6 months raised 300k to launch a drone program that will benefit 13 schools in San Antonio.

We have always had our hearts and minds in the right place as an organization. We know that the local Aerospace Sector is booming with opportunity. There are plenty of high-wage, high-demand jobs right in our backyard. But the work for us has been figuring out how to engage students. We know that young people today learn faster than most of us reading this could ever imagine. As digital natives, they have been born with technology at their fingertips. The way we educate also has to evolve.

Last fall our Board Chair Bianca asked our Mission Advancement Committee to consider a drone program. Our committee led by Chair, Joe Fisher, President of Hallmark University, took this grand idea and turned it into a reality. Today, there are 150 students studying to be FAA Part 107 Pilots, and another 100 students are studying a pre-commercial drone program and learning to code.

We would not be here today if not for philanthropy partners like The Kelly Heritage Foundation, Boeing, 80|20 Foundation, and The United States Air Force. Their investments are what is making this work possible.

But there is always more to do. There is a waiting list of schools that want to join the drone program. And with your help, we can meet those needs. This week is your opportunity to join The Dee Howard Foundation in our quest to inspire, educate, and secure access for our youth to pursue careers in Aerospace.
